How to use this tool
Open any coloring book on Amazon and scroll to the "Product details" section. Copy the number next to "Best Sellers Rank" at the top (the overall Books rank, not a subcategory rank), then paste it into the BSR field above. To validate a niche, check the BSR of the top 10 results for your target keyword. If fewer than 3 books sit below BSR 200,000, the niche has low buyer volume regardless of how many competitors exist.
How BSR estimates work
Amazon does not publish a formula for BSR. This calculator uses a log-log interpolation between industry-cited anchor points collected from authors who share their actual sales data. The curve is most accurate between BSR 100 and BSR 500,000 where volume is steady. Above BSR 500,000, sales happen in irregular bursts and daily averages become misleading. If the whole top 10 sits between BSR 30,000 and 150,000, the niche has real, steady buyer demand. If only one book is under BSR 200,000 and the rest are above 1,000,000, the search term has browsers but few buyers, and it is worth skipping.
What BSR can and can't tell you
BSR is a demand signal, not a revenue statement.
